Dear....,
Hey,
I received my Certificate in New Delhi, INDIA in just nine days after I appeared for the exam. The Logo Agreement says that one cannot use the SCJP2 logo on resume. Is this correct or can I use it on my resume. Please guide.
Bye,

I had given the exam on 13th Feb.
I immediately got the score report from the prometric centre where I had given the exam.
But I have heard that there is one more certificate and logo which is given by Sun.
Can somebody tell me , what is the procedure for receiving the certificate from Sun. Do we have to fill up any form or something.
I visited the site www.galton.com/~sun. Filled up all the necessary info, but after filling up the form it failed to provide me the password, that page is not getting displayed.

Please be VERY AWARE that paragraph 1 of the Java Logo agreement states that you CANNOT place the logo on your resume.
I have the agreement here in front of me and there is not really much you CAN do with the logo.

Tom ,
Please go through below statement it clearly states that I can use the logo for my stationary.....
Correct Use of Logo Elements
Use all three logo elements together at all times; do not modify them;
Reproduce the Sun Certified Programmer logo precisely;
To maintain clarity and legibility, use only reproduction art supplied by Sun Microsystems, Inc.;
The Sun Certified Programmer logo is provided to candidates who have passed the necessary examinations for the purpose of identifying their status as a Sun Certified Programmer for the JavaTM platform. Use of the logo is restricted to the candidate's business card and stationery. Any other use of the Sun Certified Programmer logo is not permitted.
The Sun Certified Programmer logo is available in eps format: eps (encapsulated PostScript) files are to be used in production of the candidate's business card and stationery.

The sentence in paragraph 1 of the user agreement states:
"You cannot use the logo on your resume."
I don't care what it says about stationary. Sun purposely put the above sentence in the user agreement because they do not want the java logo to appear on people's resumes!! If you do so, you will be in violation of the logo agreement that you signed. Once you receive the agreement, read paragraph 1 thoroughly!!!

Guys,
if it is there in the agreement..there is no point arguing abt it at all....but in the website where u can down load the logo it is clearly mentioned that U can use it in stationary and business cards .....what diffrence will it make...if i use it in my resume...how do i harm sun micro.... by putting the logo in my resume...it sounds funny...if i can put it in my business card to tell people that I am sun certified ....why not my resume???
Hey can any moderator throw some light on this???

Why can't we call Sun Microsystems for clarification on this issue? It seems about as clear as muddy water right now. Can anyone send me the phone number that would answer this question?

I don't know why sun treating differently for person to person.I've seen it clearly in my friends agrement as <big> You may use it on your stationaries, business card & resume </big>
I think Kevin is right. We should clerify it with the Sun.
Regards,
Shan.

I agree with you all i wanted to use it in my Resume but due to the agreement i never used it.I was somewhat disapointed.
That's why i have not shown any intrest in mailing back the agreement.
I don't see any reason why Sun is preventing the use of logo
in Resume.
I agree with Harpal using logo in Business Card.
First time I have heard that someone has got pewrmission from Sun for using logo

I received the certificate and aggrement 3 weeks back, after which I signed the agreement and mailed it to Sun. I have still not received the password and url to download the logo. Is it sent via email or snail mail. How long does it generally take?

Anupama

Hi Guys,
Disappointments are over !!
I made a inquiry from sun & finaly I got the official reply
'Logo Certification <[email protected]>'

Here is the reply ,

Hello Dushan,
Yes, you may use the logo in your resume.
The new agreement is now the standard. All the candidates who signed an old agreement will be under the rules of the new agreement.
Regards,
Yoko Kawamura

O.K guys ... How pretty when the logo starts shining on top of the resume ?
Regards,
Shan Karawita

Hi, friends.
I have received sun certificate today and my logo licence say that I can use logo on my resume.
But "... it should not appear at the top of business card or personal stationery page, but rather in some other less prominent location."
There are no words about resume in this sentence, but I think it is not a good idea to put the logo on the top of resume.

Hello All.
I am including the complete response to my email to Sun regarding the use of the Logo on your Resume.
It seems that it CAN be used on your RESUME.

Hello,
The Java logo can be used on a resume. You can only obtain access to it if you
are certified.
