Hi friends,
Today I got thru SCJP with 98% marks.
I have been a regular member of javaranch and I am thankful to you all contributors.I have enjoyed being a part of such an excellent group and plan to be a regular visitor. The most influence on my preparation was khalid mughal book in general and jqplus in particular.
I also took lots of free mock exams which were really helpful.

My best wishes to you all who are appearing for the SCJP.
Enjoy !!!

Hi!
Congratulation! It's a high score, not easy to achieve. Thank you for you tell us you use "khalid mughal's book" in general and "jqplus" in particular. The secret is that the real test and these two sources look like twin. Am I right?

Hi!
Thanks to all of you.
To start with I'm an electronics engineer with 5 yrs. of programming experience in assembly language.I don't have any working experience in java .
In my view Khalid Mughal is the best book for java certification.I also had Simon Roberts Heller but KM is the best and enough.I did lot of free mock exams listed by maha and mukherjee.First I learned java and then prepared for certification in 2 months(4-5 hrs daily).
JQ+ is very good for practice and questions are very good.
I scored between 85-90% in all test and 96% in random test.
Exam was good, not much tough or easy but logical.
You must be very clear in runtime and compile time errors, method overriding, access modifiers and language fundamentals.
I got 8-10 questions in I/O,6-7 in threads,3-4 in util package,6-7 in overloading, overriding,1 in GC,2 in awt(I missed one).
most of the questions were sigle answer type, one fill in the blank.
I tried to mention all points,if you have any question, you are welcome.
wish you all Good Luck and success.
Neelu

Dear Neelu,
It is motivating to see someone score marks as good as 98% congragulations.I am giving my certification on 29th ,I am also refering to KM,but I feel unsure of Threads,I will be grateful if you can tell me what type of questions to expect on them.
Continue the great work !!

Thanx,
Questions on Threads were not very tough. You should be very clear in various thread states and their transitions, effect of synchronization, daemon and user threads,Exceptions,What happens when main method ends, run method signature etc.Static and instance methods and class to which they belongs.Maha has given very good discussion on threads and if you search this forum, you will find good discussion on threads.

Hello ,
Congratulations. You have done it.
I am Neeraj and currently working as a Consultant with an MNC. I am preparing for Java Certification and will be sitting for exam in April End.
But now I am confused that should i go for it or not.Is there any major benefit career wise at this stage once i am through with the certification.
I am also preparing from Khalid Mughal and Simon Roberts books are they enough for getting a good score. I keep on trying with Mock Exams .And almost every time I get goddpass marks but not in 90s so how to do that.

Sincere,
You should first re-register yourself in compliant with the
JavaRanch naming policy. As far as JQ+ goes, you dont need to
buy it if you cant afford it. Simply come to the JavaRanch forum
search for the areas you are weak on and get the questions.
Ravindra Mohan.

Hi Sincere,
Please read the JavaRanch Naming Policy and re-register using a name that complies with the rules.
To find more info on the exam and what's required check the Certification FAQ and visit Maha Anna's site.
Thanks for you cooperation.
