Hi,
I appeared for the SCJP exam today. I got 93%. I missed 4 questions and I am pretty sure that I lost at least 2 on carelessness. Today morning, I was looking for some help regarding "Java privacy statement". I was not sure what it was. I got the reply from Cindy but I could read it only after I took the exam. I wasted my time reading those lengthy questions!
I thank all of you in this ranch for the help. I felt that I was little late to join here. (I came to know about this site about 3 weeks ago). But these three weeks were really helpful.
I am working in US. I have been a programmer for last 10 years. But my experience was on non-OO based until mid of last year. I was getting more and more interested in Java ever since my company arranged a training on VAJava last year from IBM.
I started preparing for this exam 4 months ago. I bought one book on "Learn Java in 21 days" from SAMs Then, I downloaded the JLS(1.0 edition). When I felt I am ready to take the exam about 6 weeks ago, I logged on to Sun's site and shocked to see they changed exam patterns and syllabus. And also, they hadn't posted any sample questions. I was looking for some help and that led me to find this site, Maha Anna's site and also 100s of mock exams sites!
I would like to thank Maha Anna for the info about mock exams, and Velmurughan for his excellent notes. I also want to thank Paul Anil for putting together a nice set of questions in JQ+. And last but not least my wife Lakshmi, who really helped me going thru this.
I wish all of you best wishes.
Thanks,
Rajesh R

Yogesh,
Thank you.
According to the new exam pattern (Please visit Sun's FAQ site on certification), there are 61 questions, out of which 2 are privacy statements. I came to know about this in the exam morning, and I was trying to find out what it was.
They ask you something like "Do you agree that you will not disclose to anyone the questions that you see here" something like that. They don't ask you this directly. Instead, two questions are lengthy. Unfortunately, the time that you take to answer this is included in the total. I wasted my time reading the question. Others say that you can say "Yes" to this keeping your eyes closed. But I am not sure how true it is.
I wish you best.
Rajesh

Thank you Ronnie,
I wish you good LUCK. Please be sure that you are working out more examples from Thread and IO before you take the exam.

Dear Yogesh,
When I finished 52th question, I had about 40 minutes left. I took a small break (2-3 minutes), which I really wanted.
I thought, I will definitely have 20 minutes to review the questions. Believe me, next two questions, I answered within 4 minutes. Then questions from thread started. Oh! my god, When I was working on my last question on thread(59th), I had only 7 minutes left. I don't know whether they ask you questions in the same order, i.e. first IO... then last thread. Let me be frank. If they had asked me questions from thread first, that would have spoiled my courage.
The questions from IO, AWT and Collections were very simple. They just tested me whether I know the correct constructors(IO), or i know which interface/class(util) to be selected or not. But from language fundamentals and Thread, there were a lot of codes involved. i had to step thru line by line to see if there is any trick involved.
I have a happy news. I have been a programmer for last 10 years. I worked for CanBank, EDS Ltd. in London, and now in US for last 3 years. But I had only little exposure to OO-based(6 months). Yesterday, I mentioned about my score to my director. They are placing me in another project from next Monday, where they already started using Java, VAJava and other latest technologies.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Rajesh

Atul,
I am sorry. According to the rules, I should not disclose any of the questions to others. I am really sorry.
I have a humble advise. Your goal should not be just passing the exam and it should be "understanding Java language and OO concepts" very well. Please do not feel otherwise. Try to do as many questions that you can from Mock exams. This will really help you.
Thanks,
Rajesh
