Hi all ,
I cleared the exam with 79% today and am feeling quite relaxed now. Thanks to Javaranch and especially Jane for clearing the concepts in Garbage collection and layout managers .
But am not really aware of the plusses of having the certificate .Does it really help in job hunt ?
Thanks in advance !

Congratulations Shallu
You may want to post in the Job Discussion forum. I don't believe the certification alone will get you a job; however, for entry level positions it should give you an edge over someone with similar experience but no certification.

I think it depends on your experience. If you are from a non IT background it might help. The cert may or may not help. All my friends who have the cert can't say it has helped them any. I think a certified developer might have more pull to get an interview. Remember that getting the interview is the easy part. Once in, you need to sell yourself to the prospective employer. I don't think it will save you a tech screen.
