Hi,
I gave exam yesterday and cleared it with 86%. Got 51 out of 59 correct. Thanks to God.
In the beginning i lost 7 minutes as my time had started about which i did not know and i was busy with the fomalities which i had to tick before the exam.
Exam was not too difficult. I was not fully prepared for the exam but could not do anything as i had already delayed it a lot and had to appear for it on 9th May. I studied seriously only during the last 5 days. But everything went well.
For others who are appearing for the exam :
The language of the paper is very tricky. Always give the paper with relaxed mind. Don't get confused or tense if u see few tough questions in succession.
Be sure that u read each and every
word of the code, especially the modifiers of the classes and methods . I had lot of question related to them.
In many question there was an option that the code will not compile and u were to tell the line at which the code will give error ( if it gives).
Most of the questions were code based. I had around 10-15 questions which had more than 20 lines of code. For most of the other questions, the code is of 10-15 lines.I agian stress that u must take care of the access modifiers.
I had around 7 questions on
thread and i did not find them difficult as i was confident in threads.
In streams i had around 5 questions. Most of them required that u should know the constructors of the stream classes throughly. This topic i did basically only from Khalid Mughal. The classes defined in KAM are i think enough.
Even for java.util, i find KAM is sufficient.
Be sure that u do overriding and overloading well. I had lot of questions on these.
Make sure that u understand the concept about what u are doing. KAM is good for this.
I bought JQ+ but did not complete it. I did its questions only topic wise. Moreover I did not take any mock exam, that was my mistake. Actually i thought that i would take the complete mock exam only when i was completely prepared but that time never came. But few days before the exam i decided not to take any exam thinking that if i dont get good marks, it would shake my confidence. I strongly suggest that u should take some mock exams before u appear for the
test. I think JQ+ is very good for making concepts. If u go for it then u must read the explanations for the questions u do from there even if do them correctly. JQ+ helped me a lot.
i feel KAM is the best book for JCP. The exam is very well in the sphere of KAM. RH is easy as compared to KAM but definitely KAM is better.
javaranch also helped me a lot. whenever i used to feel demoralized, i use to visit the site and read the views of those who cleared the exam. That really used to
boost my confidence. Whenever i had time and i am on net, i used to visit the site and read others problems and comments.
That really helped me a lot.
If possible, u should try make a group in which u can discuss the toppics which u have done. I am sure that really helps to clear ur concepts but unfortunately i never had anybody with whom i could discuss about the exam and its toppics. Do atleast read the problems which people places in javaranch and if possible try to participate in that.
The paper was Ok but after the exam i was expecting that around 54 questions would be correct. you have lot of time for the questions in the exam.
But the only thing a person should take care of is that he should not get confused and tense.
All the best for all those who are appearing for the exam.
If require any other information or help, u can contact me or write in the post. I will reply back.
Wishing all of u luk
Mandeep
