WOW, this is the greatest day in my life. I never thought in a million years I would get to this point. I want to thank Java Ranch, Marcus Green, Bill Brogden, and anyone who helped with my silly questions.
I honestly thought I wouldnt be passing. I locked my self in my room for 2 weeks and studied my but off. The exam its self was easy and JQ+ certainly helped me in my certification results. I have to say I am so happy.
Here is the breakdown:

Declaration and access control: 87%
Flow control and exception handling: 85%
Garbage Collection: 100%
Language Fundamentals: 88%
Operators and assignments: 85%
Overloading, Overriding...: 100%
Threads: 100%
awt: 100%
lang: 100%
util: 0%
I/O: 100%

The exams is faily easy to be honest. JQ+ was alot harder than the real exam. This was the higest score I have ever gotten on any exam, Mocks included. If you have any questions please ask away I will do all I can to help. But dont do what I did. Studying for 2 weeks straight is'nt healthy. I really didnt do much code either. I have a good memory, and I have done some projects with java in the last 6 months so thats certainly helped. But these were mainly with Database connectivity.
The first 4 questions were on I/O, and I hate I/O...I really do, its was my weakest area during my studies. I was lucky to get 40% on mock tests on I/O. Each test is different, so expect the worst senario. Be cool, and have some water before the test

I must say that 89% is an impressive score. I have recently joined javaranch and find the community spirit incredible. I look at people's results on the SCJP and am impressed. I have also been studying hard to pass, have been working in Java for a year with JSP, servlets, JDBC and recently EJB and JNDI. Anyways, congtas again and keep up the good work!

Greg, you should be fine, if you have done all that with Java. You obviously have the ability to learn and think logically. Dont worry at all. You will nail this exam.

Hey Faisal,
Montreal is just great, great IT town. I am working as a Java consultant here and oddly enough there are practically no SCJPs here. Work in IT and then have one of the greatest nightlife atmospheres around. Sure it is real cold in winter, but summer is great. Anyways, once again congrats and hope to talk to you again soon!

The AWT questions were code based, but had more to do with what will the layout look like if i have the following code. Understanding how the Layout managers work and which ones are default is key.. Hope that helps. ITs really a mix of things, but most of the time you will have to look at code and go from there.

Hey Faisal,
Right now the market in Montreal is pretty strong, except not as strong as the States. Not many people here are certified here in Montreal and Java jobs are abundant, but people with Java skills are not. The market mainly focuses on JSP and servlets here, but slowly EJB and J2EE are making their entrance, that is what I am working on now. Anyways, if ever you do come back to Montreal you should find a job in no time.

What will I be doing next? Well I recently quit my job, so I am actually looking for something new. I was working with PHP's and mySQL. To be honest I really didnt enjoy wotking with that, and it wasnt for me. The people were great, but just not my cup of tea.
I had a interview yesterday, witha consulting group. They deal exlusively with IBM, and are a primere IBM business partner. I would get to work with Java, WebSphere, XML, DB2, and other great IBM tools. It certainly seems promising and exciting. I would certainly enjoy it.
I was maybe considering going to Hong kong to look for work but I would like to stay in Canada is home for me, and Hong kong is my second home since I grew up there. Montreal would be nice also. Just a matter fo time and cuircumstances.
To all those looking for jobs...there is stuff out there. Be smart about what ou want and what you are looking for. Dont email resumes, call people, make contacts show some interest, and do your research.
