Hi,
I passed SCJP2 today with 86%.
I've been reading this board for the last few weeks and find reading the success of others is encouraging.
I have a c/c++ background and spent the last 3 weeks(an hour or two a night) studying. I read through Mughal's book as well as testing with JQPlus and the 3 Mock exams.
JQPlus was very useful for mocks and my scores in the mock tests were fairly close to my actual score.
Most of my actual exam questions were straight forward 1 fill in the blank. 5-6 questions on threads, about the same on IO, and around four on AWT.
Thanks to everyone whose taken time to post to these forums!

Hello, Steven and congratulations on passing the exam. How did you feel a day before taking the exam? The reason why I'm asking is I've been studying for this exam for quite a while and I don't feel quite ready even though I've been scoring fairly high with JQPlus and a variety of different mocks. Do you have to just bite the bullet and just go for it or is it wise to actual get that feeling of readiness?
Thanks,
Donald

Donald,
I did not feel 100% ready(more like 60%). My main concerns were knowing(IO constructors, AWT, Collections) class hierarchies and the functionality they offered. I thought I had a fair chance in passing, so I went for it. I know that in these discussion groups some pretty bizarre mock test questions and topics fly around. It made me question how hard the test really was. However, most of those questions in the discussion board seem poorly formed and unrepresentative of the real test. I think if you are doing consistantly well on JQPlus you'll have a very good chance.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
