A post in another forum (the ceryification study) got me thinking. How many people actually pass the test their first try?
Ok, I admit: The reason I dare ask this is because I passed on my first try. Then again I have quite a few years programming experince with C++. But how many tries does it usually take?
Or rather how many tries did it take YOU?
regards,
/Mike

Agreed. I also passed on the first try, but I studied for a while and I have a couple years experience with Java. I know people who have failed 2 times and finally passed on their 3rd try.
Keep in mind that the people who don't pass the first time, or don't get good scores, aren't gonna come here to brag about it. I am willing to bet that they are the "silent majority".

Guys,
there are two factors at play here.
1. People that fail probably dont post their results.
and
2. People who wait until they are consistently getting 80-90 using one of the "good" mock exam engines are much less likely to fail. Likewise those who dont pass the mock are probably not going to take the SCJP.
"Easy" and "Difficult" are relative terms.
For what its worth...Corolis (the publisher of the Exam Cram series) rate the SCJP 4/5 (5 being the most difficult) relative to the other exams that they publish books for.
regards,
George

I didn't pass at the first attempt, but then again JCHQ didn't exist to help me
