Do you have proof from Sun that you are the World's Youngest SCJP? Or is it just your assumption? Congratulations, anyway

I seriously doubt any proof exists, since Sun doesn't keep records of applicants ages. There was also a report back in October 2000 that Arjun Ravi Narayan, also age 12, had passed the programmer exam. Neither claim has been verified to my knowledge, and we have no way of knowing if there are other, younger, SCJPs out there. (Other than the fact that they haven't spoken up about it here.) So I think the question of "youngest SCJP" is pretty much a moot point - we'll never really know. However congratulations are still due to Afsah on her achievement. Good job! Although I'm curious why you feel people need to remember to pray for you. It actually seems rather demanding. I assume as an atheist, I'm exempt from this request?

Hi Hasan,
I think that when u r asking for evidence for Stevie of having cleared the SCJP2 at 8 what evidence do u have that the pakistani girl have cleared the scjp.
It's solely up to u beleive it or not or I should say u don't want to beleive that somebody has already got the recognition at the age of 8 and ur claim is void now.
Anyway continue ur search for another Pakistani.
Good Luck
Anyway All the best Afsah.
Well Done at This Age.

Sure it does. Look halfway down the page. Back when this was first reported at JavaRanch there was another link to another article reporting the same thing, but that link has expired now, so I used google to find a new one.

Well, it snot about being a PAki or any other countries Youngest SCJP!! its the record tht counts!! so I think this little girl is certainly an Asset to our country in particular and the whole IT world in general! Keep it up Afsah! though I'm not a badarian and niether a SCJP but I certainly know what it is all about! hey whiz Kid! U just start development too and give more time to it as I reckon being SCJP though good but isnt a big deal as u can be SCJP but still not a good JAva Programmer or developer! but since I have sonfidence in your abilities! so go for development!

There is a saying:
"Do effort with full belief in God and your success has been guaranted"
The little badarian,Afsah Shafquat has proved it.I will congratulate her on this historic occasion.I hope she would continue her track and one day will become the youngest Architecture too.I will congratulate her parents too and Sir zia khan because without their help it would be difficult for this little girl to make the world record.

I think that our '12 year' old may also be the world most religious Java Programmer with all those demands for us to pray for her.
Now I wonder if I'm the world Laziest Java Certified Programmer?
How about Hairiest? (I go to the beach and people think they're filming a live action Winnie the Pooh)

Hi All,
It's me Afsah again. My pc had to be got formatted so I couldn't keep in touch with you people.First of all I want to thank those all who really did pray for me and may Allah, the only Almighty bless those too who really didn't.My thanks are to Senthil, Danish, Greg, Hassan Naqvi, Annie Naqvi, Junaid Rehman and ofcourse my teacher Sir Taqi Hasan(note:- he was the first to score 100% in the SCJP exam thats also a world record).
Mr. Jim,
First of all when I came to know that you are an athiest ofcourse I realized your problem so I must pray for you instead!
Sir Nanjangud,
This is a reality; not just an assumption............If you don't know it's not my fault; 9000 Badarians(All of which are Java Students) know about it. I'm agreed with the principle that a person who claims such a thing must give evidence in favour but no one gave any concrete evidence yet.
As for me, I'll prove it within a short span of time but what about others ? Those who claimed it earlier should principly submit the proofs earlier than me.
Now let me tell you people about my background(which 9000 badarians know).................
.................I am a student of 8th Grade at White House Grammar School, Karachi. When I started this Java course under the management of Operation Badar(an IT movement in Pakistan) in Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, the admission test was IQ based; approxiamately 4000 candidiates applied including highly qualified people like MBBS, ICMA, BCS, PHD, MCS, BE amongst which only 600 i.e 15% were selected, I competed on open merit and was selected too.I started studying Java after that and competed really hard for I knew most of my classmates over there just thought that passing the IQ test was a mere TUKKA for me and were always thinking that my parents are making a joke of Java by leaving a student of 7th grade(at that time I was in 7th. grade) to get classes in a university, except for my teachers like Sir Zia, Sir Asif , Sir Taqi and Sir Imran who really believed that I could do it.My parents told me to concentrate on Java's study rather than the school ones but I didn't wanted to lose my position as I was getting 1st postion there since 7 years so I gave appropriate time to both and after that at the ITCN Asia 2001 conference I got the ITCN Asia's commemorative plaque(which was given to a selected bunch of dignitaries including foriegn guests) in the recognition of my performance.During this period many newspapers and magazines covered me e.g. Express, Khabrain, Pakistan and Gulf Economist, Arab News (the Arab's First English Daily), ITCN Asia 2001 Bulletin, Jang, Global Science, Kids@IT,Qaumi Akhbar etc. and also once on PTV Khabernama and BBC News too.I was also apointed as an honourary TA(Teaching Assistant)in Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology for this Java Course under the supervision of Operation Badar. On the 28th of June 2001, I, by the grace of Allah the Almighty, passed my SCJP2 Exam with 72%.After that, I am appointed as a Teacher in TIPD (Technical Institute of Professional Developement). So now I am the youngest Certified Java Teacher in the world too!
During all this period many newspapers and magazines covered me e.g. Express, Khabrain, Pakistan and Gulf Economist, Arab News (the Arab's First English Daily), ITCN Asia 2001 Bulletin, Jang, Global Science, Kids@IT,Qaumi Akhbar etc. PTV Khabernama and BBC also gave coverage.
regards,
Afsah

Afsah- Sorry to hear about your reformatted PC; that can be very inconvenient I know.
It's worth remembering that when you post to a worldwide forum, there will be plenty of people out there who do not share your religion. This is true for any religion. You're welcome to your beliefs, but you seem to be assuming that all your readers will share them, or that it's a "problem" if they do not. I'm not sure how I should perceive your prayers for me - I appreciate the thought if it's sincere, but I can't help but feel that it sounds condescending to me. Probably it's better if we just leave our religions (or lack thereof) out of this discussion.
Regarding proof, I should clarify. I don't really doubt that you have passed the SCJP, or that you are twelve years old. And I do think that's a wonderful achievement, and I wish you a prosperous future. The problem is that we don't know if there are others who are younger, or not. No one is obligated to announce their score or age - it's possible (though unlikely) that someone could have gotten certified at age 10 without announcing it publicly. Who knows, maybe the parents didn't want their kid's head to swell too much, and kept it quiet. I'd be perfectly happy if people were announcing that you may very well be[i] the world's youngest SCJP, or that you were the youngest [i]known, confirmed SCJP. But it seems presumptious to announce it as a fact that you are the world's youngest. And the fact that it was announced by people who had never even heard of the prior claim makes me suspicious that the people making these announcements hadn't done much research. How exactly was it determined that you were youngest?
By the way, your instructor's achievement is certainly impressive as well. When did he receive his 100% score? The earliest I had previously heard of was in late 1999 I think, but we had no way of knowing if there had been others previously.
Sorry to come off as such a nay-sayer - again, it's an impressive achievement in any event; congratulations. Best of luck to you.

I know a 3 year old kid who got Java, MCP, MCSD, SCSE, A+
certificates. proof ?? what proof ??? Indian Express,
Hindu, BBC, SUN , STAR, STAR PLUS, CNN, FOX, FOX SPORTS, CINEMAX, SHOWTIMES, SCI-FI, CARTOON NETWORK
coverted that news.. Dont ask me any proofs..
Afsah Shafquat, Congradulation if you really got the
certificate.. Do not make a big deal out of it. Because,
it's not a big deal nowadays.. If 3 year old kid can create
a web page for his mom ( really a nice webpage ), what is
the big deal if a 12 year old kid get a certificate ?
Anyway, welcome to the certified programmers club.
BTW,
> Allah, the only Almighty bless
Kid, Do not make this forum a religious one....

Congratulations on passing scjp. It is pretty impressive. The only thing that bothers me is that you were never a participant at this forum, but now you've come to tell us of your achievement, and expect us to be in awe of you. I admit your achievement is impressive, but I wouldn't rate it as awe-inspiring. The test is objective. Again, that's not to take away what you've accomplished. You should indeed be very proud of yourself. I guess since I'm on the other side of the world, and that kind of news doesn't reach us, it's not as exciting to me. Nevertheless, Congratulations and good luck in your future endeavors.

Is SCJP exam hard???
Im in the final year my O-levels from the City School ans also a student of Operation Bader Jr, in IMIT. I saw Afsan infront of the cameramen of PTV. I was there when she was teaching us. I want to know if both of these of my classes could go side by side?
I got the programming concept in BASIC and C++ in class 7 in 1997
If Operation Badar would have started at that time than i would too have been the record holder.
congrats afsan!!!

I am a Badarian. I dont know Afsah personally. But I saw her in my class because she is my class fellow. Yes, she is not more than 12 years in age and when i saw her first day in my class i said to my friend that what a child is doing here and i really amazed afterwards when i came to know that she is a certified programmer and the most important which is that "she is teaching a class of dozens of students". Now u cant do it if u are not confident about your knowledge (Which i dont think a 3 year child can do)and Please dont taunt on her. Finally i from congratulate Afsah from behalf of almost 9000 Badarian.

I know all of you are wishing well for Afsah. But this is a Java News Forum and we have no way of knowing if this is Java News or not.
In addition this has turned into a Java Certification Results conversation. Therefore I am closing this and moving it over there. Please continue the conversation there.

Actually, I'm the youngest person who passed the Sun Certification Java Exam, 'til I woke up and I realized I havn't even taken it =)

Either way, that's a great accomplishment and congratulations on your hard work. Now, if only I could get off my chair here at work and just get the certification instead of coding in Java without it.
Once again congratulations and inshallah, you'll make a great programmer =)

Short note to Ray and Kaushik
First of all, this isn't a site for religious discussion however,
I just want to give u Fellows a quick response to your questions.
Allah is an arabic word, it simply means God or creator of all things.
That makes Allah certified in everything you know or you've heard of.
Reason I say this is because Allah created All things. If his creations can come up with little things like computers and such, think of the creator of their brains.
Peace fellows

Is Gosling Allah then? ;-)
Religious belief's are very personal thing, this forum has people from all faiths and countries so pl. refrain from using such words.
Would u like if everyone starts using phrases like...
Allah, the only Almighty bless
Buddah, the only Almighty bless
Christ, the only Almighty bless ....
Durga, the only Almighty bless ....
like this for all alphabets their is a God or Prophet from A to Z
just want u to be respectful for people's religious and country of origin, keep this things to yourself please not for the forum. All people here are just Ranchers who want to enhance and share their JAva Knowledge, don't make this a religious affinity platform.
