this is an compile time error why?

This is probably not the right forum for this question...
char c = 'a'; //this is the letter a
char c = '\u0061'; //this is the letter in Unicode
char c = 0x0061; //this is the letter a in hex
char c = '0x0061'; //this is a bad mixture. Compiler error!

take off the quotes and you will have a normal hex number that will be converted to char
