Folks I have passed
SCJP by 83%.
It was up-hill battle for me since I have failed couple of times before by 1 question
but I didn't give-up and thanks to this great web site and folks who hangs out here that help me to get back on the saddle again. My background is in procedural languages (COBOL, ASSEMBLER, PL1) and it was hard transition for me to learn OOP's programming but after few months of struggle I made it.
Exam wasn't as tough as few mock exams available on the net.
I think Leena had said enough about it. I just like to add few things that
TRAPS , TRAPS, TRAPS beware of those if you see question look so simple read it over again and try to read between the lines I have noticed that few question were coded as for (for example
java.lang and actually it was about method overloading/overriding.
For I/O and Util just learn the constructor and most common methods, in my experience I hadn't seen any tough questions in that category.
Also, learn the FUN-damentals --- it is very very important to have basic concept clear before even you think about the Exam
Because I/O, AWT, Util and Threads only makes 15-20 questions of the exam and rest is from FUN-damentals (see how I spell FUN).
The best way to
test FUN-damentals play Round-up game and catch all the cows!!!
Tools: I have used both JQ+ and J@Whiz(I got it free!!) but in my humble opinion JQ+ is more close to the real exam, J@Whiz needs more improvement in questions language and quality of the questions.
Mock Exams: I took Marcus Green ,Jtips and Sun Gujuan mock exams. They are very good and to the point. One suggestion to Marcus please update your exam with How many answers required to each question(just like real exam).
In the end, THANKS to all of you who helped me in this process by answering my question or putting mock exam or providing tips.
At last but not least I would like to thanks my lovely wife who stood by me when I was down, supported me when I needed help.
THANKS again all of you I'll be around and working on SCWCD.
