I passed my exam today with this score ( I got 56 out of 59).
Even though this is my first time posting, but I visited this site a lot and learned a lot from all your postings. So I would like to share my experience here as a payback to show my sincere appreciation.
1. Understanding. As long as you understand java, the exam is quite easy.
I coded a lot to play with all kinds of topics and situations to understand the language, compiler and runtime. Read other people's postings and tried again.
2. Mock exams. I did as many as free mock exams that I can find on the web.
I feel it is a good way to find my own weakness. And I think those free mock exams are more than enough. Just a week before my exam, I did Sun Guoqiao's three mocks and scored around 72% - 76%. I was depressed and even thought of rescheduling my exam. But I'm glad I didn't eventually. I was learned later that those mocks are a little harder than real exam. However they are really good though.
3. Read very carefully during the exam. I found that I missed average 4-5 questions during each mock exam, not because I didn't understand the topic or codes, but just didn't read carefully or even didn't notice. So during the exam, I told myself read everything carefully before making choices.
That's all my 2 cents. Once again, THANK YOU JavaRanch!!

Good job Hong
Tintin Herge,
the link you requested is http://www.geocities.com/sun_guoqiao
Also, could you please register with your real name, I doubt very much that Tintin Herge is your real name. Read the Javaranch Naming Policy
Thanks

Thank you everyone.
Vikrama, the mocks I did almost are covered by Maha Anna and Sun Guoqiao's mock lists. What I'm prefer most are Jxam and Jammi's applet (http://www.jaworski.com/java/certification/). Of course don't forget Marcus three mocks. As people said, their difficult level is the closest to real one. I re-did NO.2 and 3 just one day before my exam, and I got around 90% - 92%.
I don't remember how many questions about Thread, maybe around 5-6. They are not difficult at all, comparing some mock questions I met. There is one to test join(), and another one is about deadlock. And the deadlock question doesn't use any fancy objects, just 2 stringbuffers lock each other. If you know what's deadlock, you will easily spot it. Basically I feel thread is just testing how to creating an instance of thread(constructors), how to run, and synchronized. By the way, another tip here. Sometimes it looks like to testing thread, but actually it's about giving compiler error because of other stuff. So if you can make sure it has compiler error, don't even bother to think the code logic anymore.
Hope this helps.
Hong

Thanks again!
Sonir, one month is a plenty of time you get. I suggest you can
do more mocks so that you can find your weakness and enhance them. And also by doing those mocks you can find what level you are on now. I'll say, if your mock scores are ALL above 70%, then
you are definitely ready. RHE book is the only exam book I have and read. Just a week before your exam, you should re-read the whole book, that's what I did.
Hades, yes you guessed right, I'm chinese.

Do the next thing next. That’s a pretty good rule. Read the tiny ad, that’s a pretty good rule, too.
