I have been studying this book for last one week and have a few questions:
Some sections in the books appear to be too comprehensive. The writing sytle is too academic (like a textbook). Would like to hear from you who used this book if any sections of this book could be skipped for the exam.
To me, Section 7 and 8 are too much details and to be digested.
Any comments in this regard are appreciated.

I think you can safely skip sections 16 (Applets), 17 (Swing), and 19 (JavaDoc).
I'm not sure about 15 (Painting). Doesn't seem to be in the objectives.
You certainly won't be able to skip sections 7 & 8.
