After reviewing the two certifications I have come to the conclusion that the SCJD will be highly regarded by your future employer. The system that you design and implement is your proof of competency and ability. The SCWCD is just another theory exam. If you are a graduate looking for an entry level position - I as an employer would be more interested in your tangible application project. (Provided it is fully functional and bullet proof)

the SCJA has no prerequisite. You can take it any time.

Stephan, the same problem like Naznul is being faced by me and my friend Wahid Sadik for the last 6 months as i am also from Bangladesh. Actually your evaluation about SCJD & SCWCD is near to correct accept a few points in favor of SCWCD also in this thread .
SCJA or SCEA or SCJEA --- means Sun Certified Enterprise Java Architect is what should our ultimate destiny be and has no prerequisite. Possibly only 64 ppl passed all the 3 parts by January this year (just heard from a friend not sure...so no offence). But i haven't heard so far of any SCJEA who is not an SCJP also....

I have a friend who told me that the SCJD exam did not help him a whole lot. He told me I should take the SCWCD first.
