thanks to all the folks here, bartenders, sheriffs, gurus etc. passed with 81%, got 11 wrong !. special thanks to val, rob, rick, and others.
not very happy about the 11 mistakes. but the test really tests your fundamentals through and through.
i studied KM, RHE, velmurgan notes. took some mocks on the net. practised lots of code.
i had programmed or rather dabbled with perl and C stuff before. so for me going into this scjp was a total of more than 2 and half months of preparation. there were things like in C, 1 is true and 0 is false. but not in java. so was stuck on such things. But ranch helped me out when i got stuck.
there were questions that looked that i saw before in mocks but this really proved to more tricky, cause there is something at the back of your mind already.
IO: know the chaining of streams and readers/writers.
AWT: RHE should be enough
Collection: know characteristics of interfaces and classes, no programming exercises.
Threads: be clear with synchronization fundamentals
Language fundamentals, primitives: this is one thing that you can look at the mocks in the internet.
overloading and overriding: got a couple there. Khalid should be ok for this.
GC: as usual tricky.
be prepared to concentrate wholly for 2 hours. it took me just about the whole time. (there is miniature clock at the upper right hand corner of your screen that counts backwards indicating how much time you are left !!)
Tip: Practice with writing code a lot. But then before the exam you got to stop that, and be able to read code and without compiling/running figure out the mistakes or result as the case be. This is the real step that should make you feel confident of taking the exam. i hope you got the point.
another thing, may be sheriffs here can ask sun. The agreement that you have to agree is included in the 2 hours. I mean the screen that has this agreement, comes up and the clock starts it backwards count. well they should not be doing this. Once you press agree, then the test should start. right ??
one of the questions asked to type the output and i typed the string. without quotes. so don't know if the correct answer was with quotes or without.
though the test does not prove that you are a fine programmer, but it certainly proves that you know the little nuts and bolts of the language.
again thanks to all. ranch is a friendly place to learn. i hope it continues this way.
Best wishes.

Great Job!
If you don't mind me asking, what mocks were you doing (scores?) and how did you feel they compared to the real test.
Best of God's providence in all you do.

jchq, there is one called as zhang's mock, jqplus and some more. (maha 's link has a list)
jchq i scored pretty well like 80 -85%, jqplus sometimes 75%, somtimes 60% or soo. jqplus is a bit tough but then you are safe doing it.
feel free to ask any more questions.
