A little background is perhaps in order. I have been on various assignments with a consulting firm for the past 2 years in which I used Java and J2EE a good deal. As I am now in between assignments, I decided to pursue some certifications. Haven taken a course in college in the summer of '98, I was unable to commecially apply it until the spring of 2000. At any rate, after being given the green light to pursue the cert, I found that 3 days was ample time to go through my study using Roberts' book. An additional day was spent going through the mock exams as indexed by this site athttp://www.javaranch.com/mock.jsp. In particular, I found that Marcus Green's 3 exams were the perfect test of my knowledge and filled in just enough holes for me to breeze by the certification scoring correctly on 54 of the 59 exam questions given me.
Nonetheless, I used both Jaworski as well as Roberts for my initial study and found Roberts to be a much easier book to follow. However, Jaworski provides a little more depth in some of the AWT topics which I found helped a little. Further, don't believe them when they (Roberts) say that GridBagLayout is not covered on the exam as it is. Definitely spend a little time on GridBagConstraints.
On to the next one. I have been charged with serving the role of Java SME within my organization, so the end target is Architect, but that is another story...

Sorry, my mistake... I actually scored 55/59... Missed 4. Mistyped the original post. Sun's rounding is still safe.
