Well, an old(er) dog can learn new tricks. In addition to self study, I also did training at a Sun authorized training center - the course and intructor were excellent. For many years I've been a COBOL programmer, and now I'm on the job market. I did want to comment on your article, Valentin, regarding why certify. I floated into a technical backwater with my old company, and I'm hoping that getting certified will get my resume looked at, especially in this "economic downturn," as well as be a vehicle to thoroughly learn the language. Although new to Java, I'm a very experienced developer, and even with the dearth of jobs, I've had more calls in the week since certifying, than in the previous 3 months. Anyway, just wanted to add my two cents...next I'm onto the Developer cert.
