Thanks JavaRanch! Now for the actual learning part - Writing code that spits out random numbers is one thing...Does anyone know of a good source (book or web site) that takes you through an ENTIRE application written in Java from the ground up and holds your hand in creating and launching it? Say, like an online storefront or stock price lookup application?

Great work!
As for advice on free Java tutorials ... I have spent a great deal of time with IBM Redbooks of late. Some of these are really quite thorough and certainly not too tough. You can even download a free copy of IBM VisualAge for Java or the new WebsphereApplication Derveloper and quickly learn how to use one of those.
JavaRanch has some sources. You won't need to look too far. Java.Sun.com has tutorials.
InformIt has some, mostly older on-line books. I often stopped by a Barnes and Noble for a cup of coffee and took my notebook and laptop to use their books until I found work and could actually eat AND buy books. (It never really was THAT tough.)
Again, congrats. Now what?
