Hi, all ranchers
My name is Jamal Hasanov. I am from Azerbaijan Republic. I'm coding in Java since 1997. I have a news for you :-)
Today I passed SCJP2 exam with 91% score. I want to thank all Java Ranchers who helped me and who is beginning SCJP preparation in this site.
Special thanks to Valentin Crettaz!!!
I have some advises for ranchers:
1. Preparation
--------------
There are 3 things: Theory,Coding,Mocks.
For theory I used RHE,Chapter 7,18 from KM (I downloaded them) and articles from java.sun.com.
I used JQ+,Boson,Khalid Mugal's exam,JExam,... Most useful is JQ+: I found some qestions from JQ+ in real test!.I scored 83% in JQ+.
After mock exams, test each question(even if you answered correctly) and create your own questions.(for example change modifiers,add/remove static in mock exam question ) After this you can taka notes. This will help you to understand the basic java rules.
2. Before Exam
--------------
You'll be ready to exam when first time in JQ+ you'll score more than 80%
I planned to learn GridBagLayout a day before exam.(because you'll forget it if you'd learn it without coding). I also learned Collention,Map hierarchy(from RHE) and repeated I/O functions a day before. paralelly I was doing Mock exams and reading scjp notes from internet. 3 day before my schedule was like this.
Wake up at 6:00. Do JQ+
go to sleep at 8:00
wake up at 9:00 Analyze JQ+ questions
go to sleep at 10:00
wake up at 11:00 Do JQ+
........
Aftet 15:00 i did the same but with theory&coding
After 20:00 playing billiard with friends:-)
After 22:00 till 24:00- test
Last day do nothing!!! Just read your own preparation notes.
3. In exam
----------
Don't listen music, watch TV,etc before exam. Plan exam as early as possible!!!
Now, the main TIP:
When in exam you see 5 answers, for examplpe A,B,C,D,E and you quess that B and E are correct(if test asks to choose two:-)) ) be sure that ACD are false. It helped me. There are a lot of similar answers and you can choose the wrong
one at first look.
Bye,
Jamaladdin Z. Hasanov

That's all

Many people say SCJD, because you get a lot of "hands on" coding practice.

OK, Rob
What about other certificates? Have you get SCJD?
What do you think about Oracle Certs?

Thanx,
Jamal
