Is there any record of how many people are Sun Certified Java Programmers world wide and also all the other certifications?

Sun seems to guard the numbers rather zealously. I think it's interesting in light of all the other companies who tout the number of certified professionals they have, but I wonder sometimes if they might actually not know how many people have passed the exams (since the Java Programmer exam is given under so many different test numbers, including seperate ones from Sun and IBM).
