I passed my SCJP2 certification today with 91%.
First of all I would like to praise God, for without him this would not have been possible and of course a special thank you to JavaRanch - the best Java forum!
I will definitely be back, 3 certification to go. Next up is SCWCD. I plan to write end of September.
Kind Regards
Fred

Fred,
First of all , COngratulations!
I am hoping to take up the SCJP2 exam very soon.....it would be nice if you could share your experience with us .....so that all of us , hoping to do the exam ,will get an insight as to what it felt like .
And also ...when did you feel you were ready to take the exam? Was it after you got a consistent score on your mock tests ?
Kindly , share your experience with us . Appreciate it !

Dear Nupur,
I start preparing for the certification middle of April. I used the The Complete Java 2 Certification Study Guide by Simon Roberts, Philip Heller, Michael Ernest. I started by reading one chapter per night and completing the review question at the end of every chapter. In the middle of May I wrote the Java 2 1.4 beta exam for experience of what it will be like in a real test environment. In the beginning of June I decided to start my final preparation and booked my exam for the 28th of June. I reviewed all the chapter for a second time. I also studied Velmurugan Periasamy study notes. After that I started doing mock exams. I did the 4 mock exams provided with the study guide. I scored between 70-78%. I also purchased JQ+ - the best $20 I ever spent! I went through the first 8 preset mock. The first 4 scoring in the low 60% and the last 4 moving up to the high 60%. After each exam I read through all the answer including the one I got right. The day before the exam I read through Velmurugan's notes and did 2 random exams on JQ+ which I scored 76% and 78% for. I also did Marcus Green's first and second mock - got 83% and 72% respectively. I also got a good night rest.
The actual exam wasn't what I was expecting. The whole exam was split into sections. The first ten questions was just Threads. Later I hit a section that was just I/O and finally AWT. The best problem is to relax once you start the exam.
Believe in your self, I found because I was so nervous I start doubting my own knowledge.
I was actual surprise with my result, because it felt as if I was going to score in the mid 70%.
If you study hard and do JQ+ scoring above 70% I can honestly see anyone failing.
I hope this helps. Please let me know how it went.
Regards
Fred
