Congratulations Subir !!
I hope you would share your experience of giving SCJP 1.4 exam instead of SCJP 1.2.
What you did in one week to pass 1.4 exam ??

hey sajid
well it was a sudden decision. i always thought i might not be well prepared for 1.4 exam. but still i went for it. read assertions, collection framework from sun's java api docs. went through dan chisholm's (sorry if i misspelled the name) questions which were eye openers for me. although his questions are tougher but still u can make out from ur performance in his tests abt where u stand. i think wht u shud look out for are Threads.

Hi Subir,
I am exactly in the same situation as you were while you decided to give 1.4 exam instead of 1.2.
I want to discuss the resembleness of mock exams with the actual exam. I have done Marcus Greens's mock exams and my percetages are as follows:
Mock Exam # 1 - 75%
Mock Exam # 2 - 72.9%
Mock Exam # 3 - 73.4%
I simply skipped questions related to IO and AWT. I have't done Dan's mock exam yet.I have also given about 12 mock exams from a book and my percentages varied from 73% to 84%.
Can you tell me where I stand with respect to the real exam ??

hey sajid
i was scoring in the upper 90's in the mock exams i gave. i personally found the exam to be hard. as i said concentrate more on threads and garbage collection. when is ur exam. i would recommend tht if u were also preparing for 1.2 originally then u "shud" read the new specs for 1.4 also. there were some methods used in the test which i dint know tht they even existed.

Thanks Subir !!
Now atleast I know that I need to work more to get through the real exam with good percetage.
there were some methods used in the test which i dint know tht they even existed.

You are right about that. I read the specs and was myself surprised to find methods like hashCode() which I haven't used used yet. Regarding my exam date, I haven't registered yet but plan to take the test in the mid September.
Again thanks for the guidance.
