We are excited to see a new book Mike Meyers' Certification Passport written by people working as volunteers here at JavaRanch. Although you may not recognize Margarita Isayeva as Mapraputa Is instantly, you will recognize the names Cindy Glass, Jane Griscti, and Ajith Kallambella as bartenders and sheriffs. According to Amazon.com, the publishing date was October 30.

We are very proud to have such knowledgeable and talented people voluntarily working here at JavaRanch.

Let's not forget Peter den Haan and Sean MacLean who participated in writing "Beginning Java Networking" while functioning as Moderators

Interesting, that even here other moderators were hatching a plot against me. (Surprise, surprise! ) I think I can share with you this E-mail I received from our publisher:
"Hi Margarita,
Can you confirm that you want your name on the cover and front matter of this book to be "Margarita Isayeva"? The book cover seems to show it as Mapraputa Isayeva and we want to make sure it's correct and consistent everywhere. Please confirm ASAP--the book ships to the printer on Monday."

Ok, friends (ha!), now you can tell me: who on the Earth told them about "Mapraputa"?

Map, are you saying that you never provided the publishers with any clue that you are affiliated with JavaRanch? If not, then shame on you. If you did, then most anyone could have worked it out.
No, I didn't tell anyone - if only because it never occurred to me that this might be a way to irritate you. Next time you write a book though, you can be sure I'll be in contact with your publisher to help spice up the bio...
Congratulations to all the JavaRanch authors. Please post something here when the book is actually available. Or has an image available; that would be cool.

It was probably me ... think I still called you Map in most of the correspondence; which confused the publishers so I explained the aka Mapraputa. So they must of started to think of you as Mapraputa Isyeva

More generally, how come none of the bios mention... well, anything, really? I hope those are just placeholders for the "real" bios.

LOL Then it's me... I remember you asked if you should call me by my "real" name now and I said that I prefer Map Of course, ultimately it is Jim's fault

I cant tell you guys how much of a kick it is to see the names of the authors and realize that you "know" all of them (ok excluding Kathy then).
Well done guys.

Kathy Sierra (used to be Kozel) was the original owner of JavaRanch before Paul got ahold of it. That's why she is on the contact page.

The bios in the book, the dedications of the authors, and the acknowledgments all mention JavaRanch multiple times.

So will this book be referred to as "GGKIS", or simply "The Javaranch Book"?

Who is Mike Meyer?
It is written in book's description

So, why he is not one (of the) author(s)?

The book is new. Fei Ng means that the book has been on the book promotion list for a while because they were expecting that it would be published about now. See the Book Promotion Page and you will notice that it is scheduled for promotion the week of November 20th.

There are photos of all the authors on this page. The only photo in the book is of Mike Meyers, the editor. Actually, that photo is not in the book but on the back cover. There are no photos in the book.

No personal data of anybody anywhere. Sorry, G.
