Dear Ranchers,
I prepared 2 month on the SCJP, using Roberts (Complete Java2 Certification) and Mughal (A programmers guide to Java certifaction), and the JavaRanch for getting an impression of what is going on. I bought Mughal after reading Roberts and never reopened Roberts. Mughal served me much better. I tried some mock exams, but only for 2 weeks. I sticked to Mughal, analyzing each question, and especially my errors. I generated about 10 Testprograms.
I program in Java for about two years, coming with a computer science degree from university.
In this circumstances, you should not be afraid of the exam (I wished someone would have told me before). Depending on your type, the exam demands good nerves. I started very nervous because of the time limit.
I found a comment in this forum about "Fundemetal classes" being hard: I can confirm that!
After studying inner classes and threads like mad , I made the exam only to get caught at very tricky questions from the very basics of Java.
Be prepared on the basics!
Anyhow.
I learned a lot in the preparation of the exam!
Go for it!
I am curious if the exam is helping me to find a job in europe (Germany). I have the impression it's a US-thing.
