I passed with a score of 153! Many thanks to the following:

Michael Morris
Nate Johnson
Mark Spritzler

They all endured many questions and were extremely helpful. My success is their success, too.
Below is the summary. I don't know exactly what were the issues with the GUI and the subsequent 2 point deduction, but I have an idea.
Test: Sun Certified Developer for the Java 2 Platform (310-027)
Grade: P
Score: 153
Comment: This report shows the total points that could have been awarded in each section and the actual number of points you were awarded. This is provided to give you per-section feedback on your strengths. The maximum possible number of points is 155; the minimum to pass is 124.
Section Summary Report:
General Considerations: Maximum=58 Deductions=0 Actual=58
Documentation: Maximum=20 Deductions=0 Actual=20
GUI: Maximum=24 Deductions=2 Actual=22
Server: Maximum=53 Deductions=0 Actual=53
Total: Maximum=155 Deductions=2
Certification Score=153
I'll have to change my sig now. . .

Great job Jim! That's a terrific score. What do you think cost you the 2 points on the GUI?

Two things strike me as possiblities:
I did not let the user move the sizing bar in the JSplitPane I used to separate the upper area from the seach criteria from the JTable below.
The other one could be that I really did nothing at all to dress up the data. I presented it as is and took no real pains to size the columns in the JTable - I let them default. My experience with a major airline (located in Dallas, Texas - can you guess who?) was similar to this, but in reality, I probably should have done something a little more in line with the standards for GUI's.
Anyway, thanks again for all you assistance! I think a 153 rocks!

Congrats Jim, I am really happy for you. I think the using of defaults in your JTable is probably where the two points came from. Don't worry you scored better than I did.

How long you get the result?

I took the written exam exactly two weeks ago. I had turned in my project on the Friday before before Labor Day weekend.

To be honest, I don't think I'll be using Swing all that much in the marketplace, which is why I didn't spent as much energy on the data presentation as I did on the other portions of the app. I figure I'll mostly be doing Servlets and JSP at the presentation layer, which means using HTML for the GUI.
Anyway, I'm sure I did so well because I was able to learn from your experiences.
Thanks again!
Onto the SCWCD!

Jack, your results will be posted to the Galton site, you will not receive any e-mails when it is available, all you can do is constantly check. I know I could say be patient, but I must have checked 10 times a day when I was waiting, and that was when it took much longer because of Prometric.
