Hi all,
Just wanted to say thanks to all java ranchers first. Responses to the Programmer Certification forum questions are always helpful and friendly.
As for my studies, I used Mughal's book for the basics and the JDK 1.4 Tutorial for assertions. The Sun tutorial is probably enough to learn assertions, but I wanted to learn about other enhancements for 1.4, so I bought the book.
Mughal's book was more than adequate for the Collections questions I had. I exceeded my own expectations on threads (87%) because I rarely scored above 50% on the mock exams for threads. I found this java world article (read all 3 parts!) very helpful.
Java World threads article
I didn't get to experiment with writting and running code as much as I would have liked, which probaby accounts for me scoring in the 80's, instead of 90's. I have 2 years of light java programming experience and probably spent a 2-3 hours each weekday for the 2 months studying.
The time allotted for taking the exam was more than enough for me. Most questions involved code samples, but I was able to finish the test, review the questions I marked thoroughly and then review all the questions again. Still had about 20 min. left.
Good luck to everyone studying. I'm glad to have the test behind me. It's been about 15 years since I took an academic test and I was quite nervous.
