Hi Javaranchers,
Sorry to intrude.. I am not here to discuss any Java topic per se, but want to talk about Kathy's book and SCJP exam in general. I just took the test today and passed with 88% score. Many thanks to K&B for writing such wonderful book..lucid and to the point. I can't say about other books, but if you read K&B's book and follow every word of it YOU WILL PASS THE EXAM, guranteed. I was averaging 80% or so with all those self tests but the exam was passed with 88%. I did not find any difference b/w all those self tests and the exam itself. I am a novice to Java ( but 5+ yrs with C++ ) and had made 2 passes of the book. The book is very focussed on getting you passed. I also read Khalid Mughal's book ..it's a good one too, teaches more than what you need for SCJP and the questions are far tougher.
Kathy & Bert <if you are reading this>,
You guys make all those pointers - including you in the will, accepting flowers and chocolates for teaching us well. Now here is a counter offer:
There are some spelling mistakes in the book.. and I will make one more pass to document all that and send you....an offer you cannot resist....only for $100 ONLY. Let me know :-)
best regards,
Prahalad
