Dear all,
Yesterday I cleare SCWCD with 96%.
Following are my observations about the exam.
The exam relies heavily on knowledge of
servlet and
JSP API (method signatures/return type etc).
I referred both Manning Book & Wrox.Manning book is complete in real sense.
I would suggest no need to invest time in going thru any NOTES and all, the Exam Prep at the back of the book is quite sufficient.
The most time consuming of all topic is the one
dealing with security as one needs to mug up all the tags in web.xml relate d to security constraint. Please don't ignore it.Though no questions were asked to identify the correct placing of the tags ,but through
understanding is required.
The WROX book has got some really good questions which give us enough ingredients to cook food for thought.
One should follow these steps to save time while
preparing for the exam.
1)Read the Book(s).
2)Read the specification by Sun for both JSP and
Servlets.This will
boost your confidence and also u
will thus find out the source of all THOSE Tricky
questions.
3)Solve the questions from the book(S) and also the mock tests available by Anand Chawla and some other guys including the one available with javaranch. They do very good job of scaring you.
4)I had jweb+ too, the WROX book CD also contains a
mock exam which consists of some real intelligent
questions.
5)The actual exam is not really difficult. But then I
think more than scoring in exam our goal should be to
get hold of the specification and APIs as this is what
going to help us in long run.
6)The questions on taglib were only on conceptual
level and didn't involve much coding.
I scored more than 90% in only 2 mock exams.
Finally ,there is no substitute to experience and
HANDS on Experience as atleast 5-7 questions can not be answered without experience at least I think so.Especially the one on Design
Patterns.

Noaman
