First of all let me say that the Sierra/Bates book is THE BOOK for
Java Certification. YOU DON'T NEED A BOOK OTHER THAN THEIRS! It was well written and well organized. The humor in the book was actually humorous. I felt well prepare for the exam (by the way, I've been coding in Java for 4+ years). I wish Sierra and Bates would put something together for the SCWCD exam ... anyway ...
I know that there are very smart people in this forum but it kind of sucks to hear so many people say something like... "I'm a cobol programmer and I studied for 2 weeks, 15 minutes a day and passed with an 101%". I'm obviously exagerating the point ... but stuff like that is why our credentials get slammed. I wish we had regulated licensing in the software industry.
