Hi all
Well after a long time atlast, now I am SCJP. I got 90%. Though I am happy about my score, it's that I was hoping for 100%. Well anyways that's not bad too.
For this success of mine I would like to thanks my gods, my family, my friends and ofcourse the whole of java ranch community and a few others as well.
Special thanks goes out to Kathy Sierra for making this superb site for all javaer(my word ) and also to Kathy and Bert for the excelent book.
Dan's exam helped me looooooooot(you understand how helpful were the exam) and Marcus Green's exam were also nice. I also answered the javacertificate.com section wise questions. Though I found the section on Collection way too out of scope for the exam. Javaranchers helped me a lot by answering my questions and asking their questions.
Here are a few tips on how to take the exam
1. Before you start the test make sure that you have a scrubber and the writing pad(in case paper is not supplied) is free of any writings. As in my case the scrubber was there but a lot was wriiten over it and I had to waste my exam time in erasing that. So before you start the exam erase the contents.
2. I would suggest you give the survey as they take some stress, nervousness out of you. You are given extra time for the survey(for me it was 15 mins per survery). There were two surveys.
3. You will be presented with (I don't know how long) a licensce agreement which you will have to agree. The I agree and I don't agree checkbox is at the end. The most absurd part is that this licensce agreement thing is counted in your actual exam time. Then Sun asks some stupid questions which it could have asked after or before the exam like (should we contact you etc.) but prefers to ask them now. You'll get to know when your time starts, you will have a clock on your right top hand side.
4.Then after three or four or more question you will come to the real questions. Answer them calmly, REMEMBER incase you find any question hard for the first attempt, mark a probable answer incase you have a hinch and mark the question, otherwise don't answer and mark the question.
5. I finished my exam in 90-95 mins. I took the rest of the time to review my marked questions.
6. Pay particular attention to what the question says. Like MAY and MUST are two different words and should be considered the way they are.
7. Take your water bottle. I took mine.
8. If possible read the Certification results forum, as there may be a lot of tips that you might get from there.
That's it I can think of right now in case I find something relevant to this I might add later.

Hi Robbie
Thanks. The question were phrased in a very understandable manner and I had no doubts about the question as to what was the question actually asking. Marcus's test was a bit closer to the real thing. Khalid was bit on the tougher side(I guess I scored 82% in that). Dan's exam are the most difficult exam questions I have ever attempted for java. But they are fun and really teach you a lot. I recoomend everyone to atleast take the above mentioned exams.

Thank you all of you for wishing me. Bert I am really greatful to you and Kathy that you came out with the book. It's not only good just for the certification but also a great reference for java programming. It really taught me new things and new ways to do to things. Well one thing that I didn't tell you all was that I went to the Prometric Testing center three times. Third being the time when I gave the exam. First time I was late, second time Prometric's servers were down. Third time I gave the exam. So try not to just give the exam on the last date.
