As I mentioned in the reply to the thread by B. Karakala I passed the SCWCD with 94%. However I'm really pissed off with the fact that I got a message practically saying that my exam won't get graded because of failure to agree with Sun's disclosure policy (even though I answered Yes to all "I agree" questions!). However, just as B. Karakala, I got a score report with a grade of 94%! Because of my anger, I won't even _hint_ to anything about the exam or what (if anything) helped me pass it, or even which where the section(s) I missed the 3 questions I did, since the last thing what I want to do is give SunEd the chance to say that I'm disclosing! Actually, the fact that Sun let's people take the whole exam and then shows them a message making them think that all their efforts might be in vain in rather sadistic IMHO.
I am sure this is some sort of bug or something, and that Sun does give the certificates after all (as in the case of B. Karakala). However, my advice to Sun is that they be especially careful in the future with regards to this issue, since from my mearge knowledge of the Greek law, there are countries out there in the world whose legislations could put Sun into trouble for such issues. For instance, Article 5 of the Greek civil law protects an that so-called individual's "personality" and "insulting the personality" had been granted by Greek civil courts to cases apparently as minor as the bus being late to schedule! Also, the clause of "free development of the personality" is especially sensitive to acts that obsturct one's progress in one's career. My point is that Sun, which is a company I am fan of, for the sole fact of being the company behind Java, should be especially careful, with the manner in which it administers its Java exams, in order to avoid potential legal trouble due to the provisions of the various countries' legal systems.
Panagiotis.

Well congratulations, anyway!
It does seem odd that Sun doesn't fix this given the number of people who have reported the problem. If it's a bug in their system then the exam givers ought to at least warn test takes of the bug. Sorry to see your success clouded (at least temporarily) by this nonsense.
Ken
I plan to take the test within next couple of weeks so hope it's fixed by then. But I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks Ken!
Basically in page http://suned.sun.com/US/certification/register/policies.html (Policies and Agreements) Sun has a Candidate Pretest Agreement (sample).
Please note the following excerpt from it, where it is clearly stated that one may take the exam even if one answers negatively to the questions of whether one wants Sun to use one's personal data or share it with other companies in order for them to send one product announcements and the such. Could be that B. Karakala and myself got the strange message at the end exactly because of this reason. Seems to me like a bug in the testing software, whereby it checks the answers to questions 3 and 4 and, even though they do not (and should not) affect one's taking the test, it construes them as meaning non-acceptance of the non-disclosure agreement (!), which results in popping up the scary (and erroneous) message.
I will certainly contact SunEd about this issue to ask them have this bug fixed, to spare more people from the anguish caused by the popping-up of this message!
Cheers,
Panagiotis.

OK. My result has been posted on CertManager.
So, the morale of the story is that, if, _before the test_, you select that you do not want to receive any promotional material from Sun or its partners, you will get a scary message _at the end of the test_ mentioning that your exam won't get graded due to non-completion of the non-disclosure agreement (wrong).
However, your score report WILL get printed and your results WILL appear on CertManager in due course.
I am sure Sun will fix this strange "behavior" of its testing software in due course.

Thanks for the info Panagiotis. The newest post indicates that at least somewhere the bug is fixed. Still it's nice to be forewarned.
I bought my voucher today so should be able to see for myself soon enough, and before objectives get changed. It seems like as soon as I get ready to take a test the objectives change. I'd spent so much time preparing for 1.2 progammer test that I didn't want to switch gears and start studying for 1.4 when that came out. Same thing with this. The horse is in midstream so I'll take this exam and worry about any new one down the line.

Seems like the right thing to do Ken. After all the changes shouldn't be too dramatic (two changes I see is filters coming in and single thread model going out). Also, it may take a while till the new exam comes out. See previous posting of mine here

I took the SCWCD test on 17-06-2003. I answered YES on Question 3 and NO on Question 4 (Sun may share your Personal Data with other companies....). I did the test and receive the certification 2 weeks after the test. There were no problems after the test and in certmanager.
The first question (Candidate Pretest Agreement...) MUST be answered with YES to take the test.
If your results are in certmanager, you WILL receive the certification by regular mail.

Yep, you're right. Actually, as per CertManager, the "fulfilment kit" has already be sent to me.
