First of all, I passed the exam today wth 85%
For those who still doubts whether it is worth taking the exam... the preparation was worth a LOT to me. Though I have been programming java, the whole process helped me to be a better programmer.
Regarding resource, I solely depended on K&B's book. I would recommend that book every body..again..and again. Thanks to Kathy and Bert. (You never bored me reading the book )
I practiced some of Dan's mock exams...i ran short of time to do all of them. His questions are tough...but straightens up your thoughts, and worth the struggle. I would suggest to do all of them again and again.
The difficulty level of the real exam was more close the questions in K&B's book (or the MasterExam).
The two hour time for the exam is quite generous. You will get enough time to review and revisit the answers (but don't waste too much time on the first round).
Last but not least (at all), this great Javranch is the greatest! If you are reading this, you are at the right place for the certification!.
Going forward, I will hang around in this great saloon...check other threads and write now and then... Mooooooo
But for now, I need a good day's rest.
cheers
Unni

Unni -
Great score! We're happy the book helped.
FYI, the SCBCD exam will be out soon, and the revised SCWCD should be out early next year, in both cases our new books will be available to help you study!
It's great to hear that you'll be sticking around to help answer some questions! Answering questions is a GREAT way to learn, it forces you to really think before you write.

Bert,
I am not what is the SCBCD exam? Can you tell me more about it?
I would like to do SCJD or SCWCD next. Not sure which one to go for. In one of threads you had some suggestions about prep-resources for SCJD...I could not find that again. Is Sun planning to revise the SCWCD?
Monika:
K&B's books covers all the specific topis/objectives for the exam. I suggest you to use other resources (java ranch, sun's java site etc, API docs etc) as well when you need more info on something. In exam, I got lot of questions on Threads, many on GC and Exceptions. Innerclasses was lesser than I expected, so with Collections. Again, many many questions on over-loading/riding, constructors and Wrappers.
cheers

Unni -
Here are our recommendations, for whatever they're worth:
1 -SCBCD is the NEW Sun EJB certification, and a new Head First book is coming out. The exam should be public in September. Check out the SCBCD forum!
2 - SCJD, we recommend Max Habibi's book. The SCJD section of our book is OK, but PLEASE!, DON'T buy our cert. book just for the SCJD section - that section is very small!
3 - SCWCD, Sun is upgrading this exam, the new version of the exam will be out sometime early next year, along with a Head First book. The new version is SIGNIFICANTLY different than the current version, so you might want to wait to take the new version.
