Passed SCBCD with 91%!

Dear All,
I am writing to JavaRanch after such a long time although I constantly remained a silent observer. Hope some people like Valentin and Ashik still remember me. I want to thank them and alot of others who congratulated me when I was only a SCJP. Special thanks to Evelyn for keeping us informed of the updated news, Bert Bates and Kathy Sierra(the moderator of the group) for her last minute tips and sample chapters of her book, to Valentin for those wonderful cheatsheets, to Ashik for the compilation of all the notes, to all those who asked the critical questions(because that made my concepts clearer), to the person who made the 'objectives to specification mapping' document(I don't remember his/her name) and to all others whom I am missing. Truly, JavaRanch has contributed a lot in my SCBCD certification. If anybody needs help during his/her preparation for the exam, you can contact me at [email protected]
Now I would like to tell you something about myself. My name is Afsah Shafquat. My date of birth is 26th February 1989. Right now I am in O-level(10th Grade). I started JAVA programming when I was about twelve years old. Now I have passed my SIXTH INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATION (SCBCD) with 91% on 4th July 2003 at the age of 14 years, 4 months and 8 days.

Billy and Anwar, I really appreciate your comments. Billy, right now I am in O-level but if you know of any famous university which is offerring PhD on scholarship basis, without any pre-requisite of formal education, please let me know. I will be grateful and look forward to that.
Thanks Pradeep for your reply. I don't understand why didn't you believe me but infact it helped me edit my post. Actually when I came from school, my father just told me that SCBCD results have been published. I was more than just excited!! I saw in the certmanager db and YIPEE; my percentage was 91%. I think that doubled my excitement. Then I just sat down and and started posting the result on JavaRanch. I don't know what happened. Maybe I was over-excited! At first, I wrote my year of birth 1886, then I changed it to 1986 (that's my elder sister's), but still it is not correct; my actual year of birth is 1989. Well sorry for the confusion. All those top level certs at age 14, it's hard to believe. So unlikely that it's probably true though. I think it would still be worth taking an undergraduate course at a top university somewhere earlier than the usual entry age. There is still a lot of software engineering and computer science topics you can study apart from certification related ones. If you can pass the certs, you should have no problem get the required entry qualifications - you might even get in by showing your certs.

Dave! Yeah I totally agree with you. Actually till June 2004 I am quite tied up with my O-level Exams already. After that, I think I will try for that. It may be interesting for you that I am also working as a teaching assistant for JAVA and XML in Operation Badar's program at Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology.

Congratulations to you - very impressive. You are an inspiration and I hope that you will use your great talent for the betterment of society.
Please take the following comments as encouragement. As a person, myself, who began not as a native speaker of standard English, I have encountered many criticisms and difficulties because of language and written communication. I have grown to value the use of "correct" English. I have noticed that some of the IBM exams and some of the mock exams are full of grammatical errors, some causing confusion that tests for the way you happen to interpret the language, rather than your knowledge of the material. Every word counts. In your message, incidentally, you can correct a few minor errors by re-editing your post, rather than posting another comment to describe the error. For example, the phrase "your comments are appreciable" means that the comments were large or voluminous. It should read "your comments are appreciated." Furthermore, you can avoid the unnecessary use of the passive voice and say, instead, "I appreciate your comments."
Without a well-rounded education, I hope you will realize that customers and employers in your future may form an impression of you that is based more on the trickle of imperfections they perceive, rather than the list of honors you present to them. But if you are in a privileged class, that may shield you from such consequences.

Don't know if you realized that tech jobs in India and related regions are booming. Large corporations outsource projects to India to reduce cost, amongst them are Oracle, Microsoft, HP, etc..
Like many of you in this forum, I felt the pinch too since there are not enough openings in states.
