Hi Ranchers,
Thank you all .....
So finally ... i cleared
SCJP exam with 88%... without any FailedExceptions

...kept a target of securing 100% .... but was not able to acheive...but i think its a decent score. I gave my exam on 27th (Saturday) of this month.
My
Java Exp : 2 yrs.
Time devoted for studies : 6 months (part - time).
Actually i felt short of time. When i was on 60th Question ... only two minutes were remaining. when i switched to 61st Question i saw the clock, which showed my 13 seconds remaining for that big thing to get over, and as the last question was a code snippet, those 13 seconds were too short for me.... When the time elapsed, i saw the question and i knew the answer.... but due to shortage of time at that moment i just clicked arbitarily on the wrong answer.
I gave exam very camly and casually....without panicking..... or tension and it was there i wasted some time..... though would suggest you to take exam very cool and calmly but not at the cost of time.
I reffered Certification guides by :-
1) Robert and Heller
2) Khalid Mughal
3) Kathy's Study guide (borrowed from a friend for last 2 or 3 days before exam)
Thank you all the authors for those Excellent books.
All the three books are good. Robert's book is good for starting the preparation... Khalid's book is good for laying sound foundation... and Kathy's book is excellent in giving the finishing touch....without which your preparation would be incomplete
I found mock exams tough than the real exam.
I appeared for Java - rules roundup on Java Ranch... scored 100% in that. I gave JWhiz
Test and averaged 80% in the test. I gave all the three Marcus green exams (1.2) and the one for (1.4), averaged around 80% - 85% in marcus green mock exams. I also gave one Dan's Test... scored very poorly 58%.

I also gave Master exam which comes along with Kathy's study guide.
All these exams i just started 2 - 3 days before the exams.
On the day before the exam.. when i completed marcus green's 1.4 test...by securing around 85%... then i started Master Exam that come along with Kathy's guide...and secured just 78%...and let me tell you i found this exam very tough and took around 3hrs to complete it. In this Master Exam it showed 80% as the passing mark...so i was declared failed

followed by this was the Dan's Exam... that was a another nightmare....secured only 58%... .... So all these proceedings on the last day really shattered my confidence level and was very much stressed out and was not feeling very confident......and the thing i did was just left from office that day and went home and slept.....and the next day morning was a new start.
Therefore i would suggest you'll to give these exams atleast 10 days before the exam so that you can build yourself on those week points. Start up by giving those tough exams earlier followed by the easier one's... coz i think it would help you gain the confidence level which matters a lot when it comes to real exam.
If any one of you find Collections difficult as i did.... just refer Kathy's study guide.. every thing will be all right. I never found this chapter so well explained ..from exam point of view, in any of the study guides. Scored 100% in collections framework

... thank you kathy..
Infact i didn't got enough time to refer kathy's study guide...i only reffered collections...threads and equals and hashcode contract from this book...apart from this ...i also glanced through some exam tips provided in the book....and those were simply invaluable, so do refer this book before giving the exam.
Now planning to give SCWCD... Can anyone suggest some good books or resources for SCWCD....
Kathy...do you have a guide for SCWCD... ???
Thank you all ...ranchers...this score wouldn't have been possible without your help.
Regards
Manish.
