Started out knowing no Java 3 months ago. Read first half of Just Java and did the Cattle Drive. Read first half of Head First Java and reviewed many of the Sun Java basics tutorials. Read Kathy and Bert's Study Guide.
Spent the weekend tearing my hair out with Dan Chisolm's maddingly hard Mock exams where i was consistenly getting 50-60% only. Took the Beta Rules Roundup but the score there is still a bit doggy due to some bugs.
Overall, I spent over 300 hours learning Java to get to this point. A bit more demanding than I expected. Now if I only had a job to apply my knowledge.
I plan to forge ahead with the rest of HFJ, Just Java and the cattle drive and look at going for either SCJD or SCWCD in a few months once I have a basic mastery of GUI, Servlettes, RMI and JDBC.
