well, first off, i would like to thank javaranch for helping me pass two java certification tests. i would say that this is one of the best sites for java certification information.
i don't have any experience in java at all. I do work in c# and .net, which is very similar so web technology is not that new. I only passed the first test with 60% and this test with 74% and did not write any programs, or anything like that. So I fully went on memorization. anyways,
my two cents:
1)the "SCWCD exam study kit" by Deshmukh, Malavia and Carter is all you need in regards to a reference book.
2)take all the mocks tests you can. I know it's not suppose to be, but if you go through the 3 mock tests on the CD, and take all the mocks tests, from http://www.javaprepare.com/scwd/links.html, you will get like 20 questions that are almost identical to the test. The problem I had with this is, after you many mock tests over and over again, you start to memorize the answer instead of understanding the answer. So when there is a difference on the real exam, you kind of get confused.
Either everyone on this site are so smart they only get 90% or better on all the tests, or the people like me, don't post their scores...hopefully the latter!!!
thanks again javaranch.

congratulations John! I agree with you, the study kit is the only thing you need.
