My Background ------------- Some limited Java experience back from college 2 years ago Text ---- Sun Certified Programmer & Developer for Java 2 Study Guide by Kathy Sierra & Bert Bates Timeline -------- Sunday night: Chapter 1 Monday night: Chapter 2 Tuesday night: Chapter 3 Wednesday night: Chapter 4 Thursday holiday: Crammed Chapters 5-9 (yikes). Slept at 4am Today at 6am: got up and managed 1/2 a practice exam on the CD (to become familiarized with the online format), before rushing out to attend an 8:30am exam. Score: 86%
-Kudos to Bert & Kathy for their wonderful guide which is truly ALL you need to pass the exam! (New Year's Resolutions: 1 down, 255 to go!) Happy New Year to everyone and best of success in your cert preparations! Johnny
Hello, So during the exam, all you need to do is just answer those 61 questions? I read some posts posted by other people, they said they answered some 'survey questions' before attemping the real questions. I wonder what kind of survey questions??
Hi Richard, I wouldn't worry about the survey questions. The first thing to know is that time spent answering the survey questions does NOT come out of your test time. The timed test starts when you have finished answering all the survey questions. Secondly, the survey questions are on the order of: "How many years of experience do you have using Java?" Their purpose, I believe, is to give Sun a notion of who is taking their certification tests. Perhaps this information is used to inform future certification planning or maybe it's just a marketing research thing. In any case, they're extremely easy questions (unlike the actual test questions themselves ) about your Java and programming background. Needless to say, the survey questions are not graded. Don't worry, be happy, George
Hey Johny ! This is an amazing result . I wish you all the best in covering the rest of the Sun exams. Keep going ! ~Nasko

Hi Everyone, Just wanted to announce that as of 1/18/2004 I am now a SCWCD as well as a SCBCD. Materials: -SCWCD Exam Study Kit by Hanumant Deshmukh and Jignesh Malavia -Head First EJB by Kathy Sierra & Bert Bates (New Year's resolutions: 3 down, 253 to go!) Good luck everyone, Johnny
Congratulations, Johnny! Your results are incredible! To ace two heavy weighters like SCWCD and SCBCD within two weeks with very little Java experience, you must be really bright and extraordinary talented!
