Thanks for JavaRanch! I pass with 385/400.
General Consideration: 94/100
Documentation: 70/70
O-O Design: 30/30
GUI: 31/40
Locking: 80/80
Data store: 40/40
Network Server: 40/40
I was a frequent reader, not a poster of this forum.
Here are the people I really want to thank:
George: thank you for your comparison/discussion on
Locking mechanism, it makes things crystal clear. I
have the knowledge on locking/multi-thread, but it is
your discussion that lights up the subtle parts for me.
Ken: thanks for sharing your thoughts, that greatly
helped me in design decisions and documentation. I like the idea of
3-tier design, it separates the locking from network
layer and makes the design very clean.
Andrew: thanks for your consistent contribution to the
forum, I got a lot of details solution from your
numerous posts. You are a nice guy!
Philippe: thank you for your patiently answer so many
new-comer's questions, from which I got a lot of
answers and save the hopeless call to Sun :-)
And many others who provide selfishless help in this
forum, thank you all!
My thoughts
===========
1. In General Consideration, I cover too many
possibilities and features I didn't implement -- I think
that's where I got deduction. Better presenting
positive, what-you-have-done, than a list of
what-you-havent-done.
2. I take too light on GUI. I thought the minimum
design would be sufficient. Obviously, reviewer
doesn't think so.
3. Spend some time on essay preparation
This may vary on different people. I spent two hours on that. On the exam day, I found myself in trouble: I knew the answer, but I
don't know how to present it in professional way.
4. I like the tools recommended in this forum to check javadoc html and source code -- I found numerous format errors in my code, although they are not crucial

Hi Stanley,
Congratulations on passing the SCJD and getting an excellent score.
I was especially happy to see you got a perfect score on locking.
Thanks for posting your thoughts, they should be very helpful to anyone still working on the project.
Best wishes for your future endeavors.
