Hi all.
last year, I became SCJP.
assume after (2 year and 1 month) I want to become SCDJWS, but my
SCJP status is out of date and as you know SCDJWS requires SCJP.
so should I take the upgrade exam ? or ask sun for another JP without
expiration date ?

Hi John,
Please take a look at the Sun Certification FAQ, in particular the section on Recertification.
Basic situation is that retroactively certifications no longer expire.
Therefore the certification you have right now is considered to be current, and you will never need to recertify for that particular version of the certification. If you would like a certificate / card that does not have an expiry date, then Sun will happily send you it for free (see the FAQ for details).
So there is nothing to stop you going for the SCDJWS with your current SCJP certification - good luck.
Regards, Andrew

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
