I just took the programmer exam this morning and passed with an 85% as the subject says. I've been lurking here for about a month and prepared casually over several months with a study group that we set up here at my office (4 people). We went through Kathy and Bert's book about 1 chapter every week (two weeks for long chapters).
In the last month, I focused primarily on mock exams from:
- JavaRanch Rules Roundup Beta
- JavaCertificate.com
- Dan Chisholm's comprehensive exams
- Marcus Green's exam simulator ($10 for a 3 month subscription)
- The 2 mock exams that came with K&B book
I was only getting around 70% on most of the mock exams, so I was a bit apprehensive before the exam this morning, but ended up doing better than expected.
I learned Java 4 years ago in college, but had to relearn it about 2 years ago when I started developing web apps with Java.
