Took the scbcd today and passed. Man what a tough exam.

Read HFEJB twice, read makalai's study guide probably twice thru.
did all the tests on ejbcertificate, couple exams on jdiscuss, did the final hfejb exam and then went over every wrong answer and wrote them down. right before the text i studied the ejb environment chapter heavily. A good tip is to read the DD <env-entry> area for example, memorize it and then in 5 minutes write it all down again so you really memorize it. That helped alot.

anyways, 71% isnt very good but with someone like me's experience with java, I am very proud of myself

Congratulations Sean. I just started preparing for the SCBCD (have zero experience with EJB). Thanks for the tips.

I think I am going to try for Websphere associate developer next , but i pre-ordered the new jsp head first book so well have to see.

bert bates says hfjsp is possibly the toughest exam yet, dunno.

And I thought the test thru me some curveballs. I would recommend you study section 1 extensively, there were about 5 questions on the test about ejb requirements worded differently and I got 3 of them wrong. You will see about 5 questions per section on average. Some you will get 6, some you will get 3 or 4 it seemed based on my test report.

anyways, good luck, if you dont have prior ejb experience, hfejb is definitely not enough to pass this test. You really need to do lots of mock exams, work on your weaknesses, read makalias guide once you get the whole concept down ( usually after you finish hfejb ). Overall, I wouldnt want to do it over again, and I hope this will look good on my resume for some time.

I'm starting a new job monday ( wasnt hired based on scbcd ) but my SCJP helped get me the job alot.
