If I recall, the stats of certification were: out of 2 million
Java programmers in the world, about two percent were Developer-certified, which would come up to 40,000 programmers; and about 17,000 were Architect-certified... If so, the SCJD is a pretty exclusive club; of course, this probably means the vast majority of Java programmers have not taken the SCJD.
With these stats, my personal opinion is that SCJD should be given a lot of weight in employment, but posts in this forum seem to indicate otherwise.
To make the point I started out with, SCJD is really an excellent certification to have because it involves building a finished product.
