Jan -

93% is awesome... You understand don't you, that a LOT of candidates fail this test? It's hard, 93% totally rocks!

Hi, Jan! Congratulations on passing and on a great score. As I recall, most of the questions on the test are with a nuance: the obvious answer is rarely the correct one. So to get 93% is very good.

As of SCJD, it is quite more complex than SCJP and will take more time. When I was going for it, I bought a book by one of the bartenders here, Max Habibi, and I participated a lot in the Developer forum. This arrangement has worked for a lot of other people as well.

Wish you luck with SCJD!

Hi, Bert. May I ask if the percentage of successful passes is known both for SCJP and SCJD and SCEA?

Thanks for your reply.

Yes offcourse! Thank you. Hence the smiley at the end of my first sentence. At work we're doing the certification (SCJP, SCJD, SCWCD and SCEA) with a whole group, so we get pretty competitive.

The first group used another book and the average score was around 70%. Our group used your book and the average score was 85%+

So now I'm waiting for my downloadlink for the SCJD assignment and one thing is for sure I'll be reading and learning a lot here.

If I recall, the stats of certification were: out of 2 million Java programmers in the world, about two percent were Developer-certified, which would come up to 40,000 programmers; and about 17,000 were Architect-certified... If so, the SCJD is a pretty exclusive club; of course, this probably means the vast majority of Java programmers have not taken the SCJD.

With these stats, my personal opinion is that SCJD should be given a lot of weight in employment, but posts in this forum seem to indicate otherwise.

To make the point I started out with, SCJD is really an excellent certification to have because it involves building a finished product.

Regarding my test, I had two questions regarding the value of a String.
In the answer I omitted the " around the value, was my answer valid? I didn't find any clue in the help of the exam.

Regarding my last message, I double thank ur books Kathy & Bert, for 3rd world countries we cannot afford a $2,500usd or related numbers on "Sun Education", so anything up to 40 is great to pass the exam ;-)
