Thanks!!!

I have just cleared my SCJP exam with nice score. And I would like to thank javaranchers and specially Barry for helping me understand so many critical things in java. Well, Corey Blog is the best(undoubtedly).

My sincere thanks to K&R for writing such a comprehensive book, and to Dan also for making so much difficult questions that you are not afraid of the questions in the exams.

I would like to share how I prepared for the exam, with a thought that it might be helpful for the other greenhorns, who are going to appear for the exam in the future.

I studied "Study Guide for 1.2" by Phillip Heller for 2 times but could not get enough confidence to appear for the exam.

Then I went for Khalid's Book "A programmers guide to java certification". I studied this book once with the questions of Dan's site. And after this I am able to get the confidence to appear for the exam.

Fortunately, I had Jquest and Whizlabs software for the last minute mocks. I gave 8 exams in Jquest and 8 exams in whizlabs. They were quite helpful in understand how the exam might be.

Well, My scores for different mocks are -

MARCUS - 86%
SUN - 70%
DAN - 64%
KHALID'S BOOK MOCK EXAM - 74%
JQUEST(AVERAGE) - 70%
WHIZLABS(FINAL EXAM) - 77%

FOR SCJP SCORE(CLICK HERE).

I think, it makes thread to qualify for this forum, because its just the experience for the help of others.

Thanks again

hi Munish,

Well, exam was very intelligently made and I must say that it was upto my expectations. I finished the exam in about 90 minutes,in which I revised the questions once.

I did not prepare well in assertions, so the questions in assertions were little consfusing for me. There were 3-4 questions on assertions.

There were around 7 questions on Threads and they were not very tough as I was expecting.

Collections questions were the most easiest. Because there was not even a questions with coding. Only basic questions were there, actually you must know which collection class will you use when you have a particular requirement. I can't share the actual questions here. You must know about the equal and hashcode methods, and their relation.

Exception section was also very nice as the questions were not difficult than the Dan's questions, you must know the order of catching exceptions and when finally and catch is exectuted and the return statement in try catch finally.

Well, this is what I remember about the exam.

I hope this helps!!!
