So it wasn't impossible
Hi All,
I took my exam on the 20th Feb and passed it with 100%!!! Yesterday (9th March), I received the official certificate from Sun Microsystems.
I studied sun certified programmer & developer for Java 2 by Kathy & Bert. This book explains all the exam objectives very clearly while giving a significant number of exam hints. Studying this book helped me a lot. (That was a LOT!!!)
I also used Whiz labs tester from which I benefited heeeeeaaaaaaapsssssssss!!!
I followed a course aimed for this exam in Sri Lanka which is lead by Mr. Ishantha Siribaddana and was earlier conducted at DLC (Currently at their new centre in Thummulla (Colombo), behind Shanthi Vihara restaurant). This course assisted me a lot in achieving my results, especially the group work. I am very thankful to my lecturer, Mr. Kithsiri for all the knowledge, support & encouraging words given to me during the course period and the past few months. I would also give special thanks Rajitha, who conducted an extra class for exam preparation questions. Rajitha gave a significant amount of exam hints which was VERY VERY HELPFUL. And special thanks to "FOXES" and others who were with me till the end doing group work. Without you guyz this wouldn't have been possible!!!
One of the key practices which assisted me in getting this result (As I believe) is playing with code. When you do some question, dont just stick to it. Play with it, turn it upside down. Try everything possible. Be as crazy as you want Try all the crazy things. Youll be happy at the end of the day.
Be very careful at the exams. Read very carefully. You might get 40 lines of code but with public static void main(String a){ } Do you see the missing []? So you dont even have go passed 2nd or 3rd line out of the 40 difficult LOC. Look for missing semi-colons (especially in anonymous inner classes). And look for if, for, while, etc,. blocks which looks like this:
if ("boolean test");
{ }
Do you see the semi colon at the end of the if() ? So the block below will execute irrespective of the boolean test in the if condition.
You get heaps of questions like this. Actually it tests your eye sight and observance as well!!!
And finally, If you are preparing yourself for the exam, first of all believe in your self and set your goal as passing the exam with 100%. Study hard, use a tester and do a lot of questions. And PLAY with code!!! Work towards your goal. Im sure each and every one of you could get 100% if you try hard. At the exam, READ THE QUESTIONS CLEARLY as They are very TRICKY!!!
Well, thats about it. If anyone needs to know anything more please dont hesitate to write to me (nimeshdilraj@yahoo.com)
Okay then.....
cheers!!!
Best if Luck...
