hi guys,
just a wish for the wish list:
i always have trouble working out when i posted a message or whether a topic has got a new post based on the time i last read it and the time last posted.
i live in germany and don't remember the time zone zeit-verschiebung as it were, and i thought the simplest thing that would help me is if you could put an extra bit on the text in the forums where you say "all times are in MT (US)" - like the time it is now. then i could easily work it out.
thanks
adam

Just noticed the new "GMT - 7" added to the MT at the bottom of the pages, nice!
Not to insult anyone, but just in case someone is wondering, GMT means Greenwich Mean Time, or, the time it is in England.

...except in summer, when Greenwich (and the rest of the UK) are at GMT+1. Which I guess is one reason why GMT is now known as UTC instead. Probably one of us will need to update the time zone message each time the server goes on or off daylight savings. Sigh.

Speaking of time displayed on messages, the server clock is off (still off or off again? I donno).
When I click the submit button, it will be 6:39:30 PM MT (I may have done the time zone conversion wrong). Allowing some time for internet latency, it's still off.

Alright, the difference isn't huge. Still, the anal Java programmer (us) is of course preferable to the perl hacker (who will probably exibit the classical traits of laziness, impatience, and hubris) who is responsible for this forum/server.

The forums (written in Perl) get their time from the server (run by Java Programmers). I'll mention the discrepancy to them. The server seems to be slow by about 5 minutes.

Thanks for that little bit of help! Now I can work out what I've already read.

Sorry Ersin but I'm in the eastern time zone too and it's actually 1659 (4:59PM).
