Hi all I passed scjp 5.0 (73%) It involved a serious effort, and I'm quite an experienced java developer (5 yrs). The main problem is the lack of good documentation at this point. I bought the Heller/Roberts completer java certification book but that was an absolute waste of money. It's full of errors bugs and brought out way to early. The only good thing is that a finding a bug makes you remember it better, but there were so many I also forgot those! The generics part was very underrated in the book and the exam tends to ask some profound knowledge on Generics and Collections, if found the generics tutorial by Gilad Bracha very useful.
Further more I purchased the whizzlabs exam, quite some evil and tricky questions. But still full of errors or ambiguities. allthough I must say it was a good way to study for me, looking into solutions studying etc. But the average score was way lower than the final exam score, and It irritated me that no copy paste of the code was possible. And don't feel uncomfortable by there very discouraging text when you failed one or more of there exams, its probably also because of the many bugs. Another irritating thing was the way they treated drop and drag questions missing 1 item can cost you up to 25 points I'm not sure how the sun exam deals with that.
Also purchased the Marcus Green examulator his test mimics the exam the best I think, toughnes of questions, all concepts equally covered in the final exam and his test. Although the explanation is a bit shallow. I havent found any bug in that code yet.
Furthermore I browsed the Javaranch forum quite a bit and even participated in a few question lots of fun and many nice and wise people around thx all!
The final exam was well written and composed in a very thoughtfull manner I found quite some tricky questions but also some puzzle questions, and one or 2 complete brainless questions. I thought it was fun to do. It's certainly not a brainles stupid test, and I'm proud I passed.

Congratulations Jeroen and thanks for the name check and kind words. I have started adding drag and drop questions to my exam and I am working on the assumption that you have to get every option correct to get any credit per question. I have a question feedback form and I track all feedback. Often the feedback results in more detailed explanation and I take on board your comment on feedback. Although my tag says 320 questions I am now up to about340 and gradually adding more. For the skint or cautious you can study with the freely available 60 sample questions or for a modest fee access the whole database and get some additional interface features.

Again congratulations on passing, it is a significant achievement. Take us to the results forum Barry
