Just passed the 1.4 exam this morning with a 93%, nice to have it over with.
Thanks to everyone on the forums, huge help.
For people working towards this certification, here's my "story": - I've been doing Java development for a few years now. So I know Java but had become fairly dependant on my IDE for syntax / basic error checking and had never learned many Java intricacies (i.e. odd inner classes and casting rules) - Studied the K&B book for approx. 3 weeks, few hours each night. Read each chapter then did chapter tests. Occassionally went back to reread the 2 minute review sections. - Once I was done with the book I moved to the following mock exams, the week before the test: http://www.javaranch.com/roundup.jsp (85%) http://www.4tests.com/exams/examdetail.asp?eid=61 (92.5%) http://www.jchq.net/phezam/login.php (91%) and a few others but these were the best for me. - I also spent a few days browsing these forums, looking at questions people posted, trying to determine the answers, this was very helpful. - Night before the test I reread all the 2 minute review sections in K&B, stressed a bit, then got a good night's sleep. - The test took me about 90 minutes to finish, taking my time. I took the last 30 minutes to recheck all answers.
