Reviewing for 2 solid weeks straight, I passed SCJP with 95% score.
It's really worth it.
I was familar with Java 1.4 only. I had to pick up Java SE 5 by reading the book:
Oreilly, Java 1.5 Tiger A Developers Notebook (2006)

And then do the ad-hoc study for the exam, with the book by Kathy Sierra & Bryan Basham:
SCJP Sun Certified Programmer for Java 5 Study Guide (Exam 310-055)
The book is really great, it tells you exactly what you need to know about the exam, not more not less. I'm not saying that we should study only what the exam requires, but it's just easier to focus on the topics required by the exam at that moment.
The excercises provided in the book are a bit more difficult than real exam questions. However being comfortable with the difficulty level, you just find the real exam is a piece of cake.

Good luck to all ppl who are preparing for SCJP5

Thank you all.

As for Yang's question:
Two solid weeks. "Solid" means not much else but studying.
I did try Whizlab, but I found the questions are quite irrealistic. They make the questions difficult by forcing you to memorize stuff. (Note the real exam questions give you hints about how many answers you need to select)
If you understand Kathy Sierra & Bryan Basham's book thouroughly and do every question it provides, I bet you can pass without even reading the first book I mentioned.

Congrats lyx public !

(Is that your real name, it's very unusual!)

I'll be sure to tell Bryan that the book helped, he will be very surprised

Thanks. It's not my name of course. Well, names are just identifiers. As long as we conform to the naming convention...

Now that we know the name is fictitious, I need to ask you to change it (according to the JavaRanch Naming Policy). You can edit your name here. Thanks!

Good. I was intended to change it, but I didn't find a good reason.
Not being banned seems a very reasonable reason for me !!!
:-)
Oops! The naming convention doesn't allow me to have "public", because it's a keyword....
