Hello All,
Its been two months since i started learning J2ME and i was constrained to take the exam by June end since my voucher was expiring by June 30th.

My first reference was the "Beginning J2ME: From Novice to Professional by Jonathan Knudsen, Sing Li" book. I got my hands dirty with some quick examples from the book.

Then I tried the JMAD Plus simulator from Enthuware.

My first impression when i saw the simulator was very good since i saw a) standard tests and b) objective based tests. I thought that they have different set of questions and so i started taking objective based tests once i was done with each objective.

But when i took the first standard test, i could see that same questions were being repeated and hence i couldnot properly judge if i was ready for the test since i knew the questions beforehand.

This was one drawback since I think they should provide atleast one full test which has a different set of questions from the objective based ones, so that we can take that as a final test before the exam to test the confidence level.

Also some questions were ambigous or unclear which i have raised in the JDiscuss - Sun Certified Mobile Application Developer forum.

Apart from that, the D & D questions were good & nicely formed, the missed questions link was also helpful. I would say this is a decent simulator for the SCMAD exam.

Finally made up my mind to take the exam and i was hoping for a score > 80 %. But the exam was pretty much easy, i was surprised to see questions very similar to the ones' from the JMAD + simulator. I completed all the question s in around 1 hr and spend the rest of the time checking some questions which seemed tricky.

Finally, i clicked on the end session button hoping for a full score, but was quite disappointed with 5 missed questions (92%)

The ones i missed were 1 from Security, 2 from Networking, 1 from RMS and 1 from MMAPI.

Then i realised that I should have answered atleast 3 of those 5 correctly since the questions were a bit tricky but i did not bother to think from the other direction

And finally thanks to Jonathan Knudsen and Sing Li for the wonderful book, Ko Ko Naing for answering to my queries on JDiscuss and other ranchers in this forum who helped me with my queries.

My next destination would be C++ on Symbian OS

Reghu Ram,
Congratulations!!! What a good score! It's good to know that JMAD+ helped you in preparing for the SCMAD exam.

Thanks for your wishes

Some stuff which I missed out in the first post

Sathya's Notes - this is a must read during the last week before the exam. Complement the reading by referring to the specifications especially the API's - like method signature, return values, exceptions thrown (when & why).

You can expect some tricky questions in the exam related to the API
