Hi guys,

I am very very happy to say that I cleared the SCJP 1.5 (310-055) exam today with 83%.

I was so confused until last week whether I was ready to take this exam or not. I have good work xperience, but, I neither did schooling in the recent past, nor took any other professional certification exams so my confidence was way off! . I was so worried I would fail or something like that. But I mustered courage and wrote the exam today and cleared it with 83%. It feels great!.

Thanks to K&B Sun Certified Programmer for Java 5 and also to whizlabs for their product!.

K&B book was great I read it two times I took all the tests at the end of the chapter and also the master exam. I downloaded the bonus exam but found the questions were same (may be I didn't download right?). I was confident but still not confident so I stumbled upon a a thread here where someone went through the same issue and they used whizlabs. I subscribed to whizlabs product and took all the tests and the rest is history.

Preparation time:
5 months total (I didn't read every day and also didn't on weekends)

K&B Book : read 2 times.
K&B Master Exam : 65%

Whizlabs :

Diagnostic Exam : 73%
Practice Exam 1 : 70%
Practice Exam 2 : 90%
Practice Exam 3 : 75%
Practice Exam 4 : 80%

Final Exam : 80%

I didn't take any other mock exams other than in K&B book and Whizlabs. I took a little bit of javaranch mock tests in the beginning of my preparation.

I found the sun exam little tougher than whizlabs but K&B mock tests were very tough compared to the actual exam.

I followed this methodology on top of understanding the concepts in the book (K&B) I practice different scnerios. After each practice (mock) test I reviewed the incorrect, but I will also note down the questions in which I was even slightly doubtful and review that after the exam. That helped a lot. Understanding the API of java.lang, java.util, java.text, java.io packages a little beyond the reqs for exam also helped.

I pondering taking BCD or Web services certification next. This exam has given me more confidence I am sure it will add weightage to my resume too.

Thanks a lot guys, thansk a lot javaranch. All the best for you all.
